Predicts 2025: Container Management Goes Mainstream
Published 5 December 2024"Container management is meeting or exceeding enterprise needs and expanding beyond the public cloud to other computing environments, including serverless offerings, while supporting emerging AI use cases. Here, we make three predictions for IT leaders on the evolution of container management."
As we step into 2025, the container landscape is set to undergo transformative changes, driven by three key trends highlighted by Gartner®. Serverless containers are emerging as a compelling alternative to traditional containerized deployments, simplifying scaling and enabling faster operations. Containers are also becoming the backbone of advanced workloads, playing a critical role in the efficient deployment of AI and machine learning models. Additionally, edge computing is powering operations closer to users, revolutionizing industries like retail and manufacturing with seamless, localized resources.
Explore the latest report to discover how these trends can redefine your container management strategy for the future.
Key Findings from the report:
- "Enterprises often find planning and operating container deployments to be challenging. Many developers do not need to engage with the details associated with deploying containerized applications. They spur interest in more abstracted and/or serverless container management offerings as an alternative for traditional containerized deployments".
- "Interest in and adoption of artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) continues to grow. These deployments benefit greatly from the inherent characteristics of container orchestration and scheduling (e.g., declarative deployment definitions and autoscaling). Emerging AI/ML initiatives invariably leverage container technologies to support their workloads".
- "Enterprises need to deploy compute resources close to people and things (e.g., in stores and factories). Containerized workloads are being used increasingly for this activity. This requires the ability to provision and operate resources at the edge".
